Rare Large Country House Mural With Egrets And Roses

A rare large oil on canvas by a master decorator, pieces like this were made hang between windows and in wall spaces between apertures such as fireplaces or doors in large country home interiors, they were called ‘entre fenetre’ and normally in textile/tapestry form, so a hand-painted one is unusual and this may have been a model for a French factory producing tapestries or it might have been a commission by a home owner who wanted the original fine artist to produce a one-off piece for them.
