Antique Bridal Box With Tulips
Small cedar pine wood marriage chest, Ottoman or Greek, tulips were cultivated by the wealthy in this part of Europe from the Renaissance and so were a potent cultural symbol but for the villagers they also saw them growing wild in the mountains around them, dear to their hearts & associated with love & passion, it was customary to decorate bridal boxes with them. Neat size, good condition for age, clean.
