Likely constructed 1860-1890 with original peg and dowelling construction still visible inside. Gifted as a dowry or wedding gift as was the tradition
The most beautiful folk art painting to the door and sides, the door panels are painted with floral motifs in soft mustard, and evergreen tones, and the original brick red all over paint which have aged to subtly delicate hues.

Period 19th Century
Condition: wear consistent with age and use. Some edge wear to the top of the molding and corners. Interior fitted with single wooden rail. Original 200 year old lock, no key but a small latch to open and close.
This piece was built to ‘breakdown’ and could be taken apart in 2 pieces using a peg and dowelling system, for travelling and installation it has since been braced so no longer comes apart.
