Early Marriage Chest

An unusual and early marriage chest, unusual in that it is also a bench seat with storage.

Dated 1781.

In the most glorious autumn hues. The paint detail is exquisite and very well executed, denoting that this chest will have come from a family of means.

Both carrying handles are still in tact, the lid still lifts and closes, it is still fully usable as a storage box and seat.

Its compact size means it would fit well in a hallway or utility room for storage.

The key is no longer with the chest.

Dimensions:

1.05m long x 60cm tall x 55cm deep
the backrest is an additional 45cm tall

This piece is an antique, condition is commensurate with a previous life and its age.
