Folk Painted Marriage Chest “1926”

This item is a superb condition traditional folk painted chest of drawers from the Kaloteszeg, the famous painted furniture region of Western Transylvania, from the Hungarian tribes. This piece would have made as a marriage piece and been kept in the ‘clean’ room hence the excellent state of preservation, you can see the subtle traces of it’s true age, and on the bottom moulding there is a date and the inscription “Balazs Katanak”. All drawers run smooth so this is a piece you can use as well as admire.
