Large Antique Folk Painted Pine Marriage Chest With Love-Heart

A superb large antique pine marriage with colourful folk painting on a green ground with flowers and love-heart, this is all traditional decoration probably Szekely Hungarian and rich in symbolism. The boxes in this part of Transylvania were also normally decorated with two or three tree forms shapes and this also related directly to the folk beliefs of the peasantry. This box has been meticulously cleaned and now you can see the date, 1861. Good clean condition.
