Red Painted & Carved Marriage Box With Flowers
A splendid example of Hungarian folk art and marriage tradition, a dowry chest from the Komarom region, south of the Danube, as typically deeply carved with abstract and floral designs then painted brightly and this one on a crimson coloured ground. Dating to mid-19th cent approximately. Good as toy box, coffee table, everyday storage and seat.
